Procaine Penicillin G Indications
Procaine Penicillin G is indicated for the parenteral treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to penicillin.
Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Mink, & Foxes: For the treatment of otitis externa, bacterial infections associated with pneumonia, as well as for bronchitis and tracheitis when caused by or associated with penicillin sensitive organisms.
Horses: For the treatment of shipping fever syndrome, strangles, bacterial infection associated with pneumonia, as well as for bronchitis and tracheitis when caused by or associated with penicillin sensitive organisms.
Inject deep into the muscle every 24 hours. Continue treatment for 1-2 days after symptoms disappear. If no improvement is noted within 36-48 hours re-evaluate the diagnosis. Mild soreness may result following subcutaneous administration. This suspension should never be administered intravenously.
DDosage
Give 6,000 i.u. per Kg of body weight (1 mL/50 Kg). Increase the dose to 12,000 i.u. - 18,000 i.u. per Kg for serious infection (2-3 mL/50 Kg).
