Pet Dent is a dental paste formulated especially for the domestic animal, its "pet friendly" flavour making it acceptable to both dogs and cats.

Pet Dent contains chlorhexidine acetate, proven to greatly reduce plaque formation. The malt base of the paste is combined with ingredients that clean teeth effectively, removing plaque and controlling odour-causing bacteria.

Pet Dent Toothpaste is a malt-flavoured dental paste formulated especially for animals, suitable for use in dogs and cats for the prevention of mouth and gum diseases and bad breath.

Pet Dent Toothpaste contains polishing agents and a powerful antibacterial agent to keep the mouth healthy and the teeth clean and attractive.

Pet Dent Toothpaste contains no foaming agents or other substances or flavours which pets dislike. It is not necessary to rinse the mouth out after use; the paste can be swallowed without ill-effect.

Composition:

Contains Chlorhexidine gluconate 0,025% m/v, polishing agents and cleansers in a palatable malt-flavoured base. Contains no detergents or foaming agents.

Directions for use

Start regular teeth cleaning. Begin in a position that is comfortable for both you and the pet. The animal should be lying down in your lap, or in a sitting position. During the initial handling spend a few seconds gently lifting up the animal's lips and rubbing around its mouth to accustom it to the sensation. Place some Pet Dent on the brush and begin gently brushing the teeth. Because of Pet Dent's pleasing flavour, most animals will not resist - but if the resistance occurs, remove the brush and continue massaging gums with the finger alone. In a short while you should be able to gently ease the brush up under the lip and begin brushing in a back-and-forth motion on all teeth surfaces.

For best results brush the pet's teeth 2 or 3 times a week. If possible massage the gums once a week.

Cats may offer more resistance than dogs to the tooth-brushing procedure. In that event consider wrapping the cat in a towel, leaving only the head exposed.

Caution

Some animals will not tolerate any type of brushing, and aggressive and biting behaviour may occur. In this case use extreme caution or discontinue the procedure.

Storage

Store Pet Dent at room temperature.

This is a 75 gram tube.

Further information

Ideally get your pet used to teeth cleaning at a young age. This has the benefit of making the procedure more easily accepted, and of course will hopefully prevent periodontal disease later on. It is worth asking your vet for a dental check annually (at the time of annual vaccination, for example) in case there are some out of sight areas affected. Also, some breeds could have other problems. Yorkshire Terriers, for example, sometimes do not lose all of their deciduous (baby) teeth, and they may be present alongside the permanent ones, and will require removal.
